Alison Van Uytvanck News
Rome debutante Alison Van Uytvanck, who booked her main draw spot with three-set wins over Mattek-Sands and Qiang Wang, had to prevail in another three-setter against 2011 runner-up Samantha Stosur to advance to the second round.
This run has improved the Belgian’s overall record in three-set matches to 6-2 in 2018. The win over #60 Stosur is Van Uytvanck’s best win since upsetting #33 Cibulkova in Budapest final in February. It was her second career title after the 2017 Quebec (d. Babos).
