Alison Van Uytvanck vs Viktoria Kuzmova Tennis Prediction
Sixth seed Alison Van Uytvanck eases into the second round with a 6-1 6-2 win over Dutch wildcard Richel Hogenkamp in just 64 minutes. The Belgian faced three break points, all in the first set, and saved all of them while winning 72% first serve points.
Van Uytvanck made her debut at ‘s-Hertogenbosch in 2011 and has been to the second round only once, in 2015 (l. eventual finalist Bencic). She won her second career title at Budapest this February but has not won back-to-back main draw matches in any other tournament this season.
Viktoria Kuzmova gets her first WTA win on grass by dismissing Russian qualifier Marina Melnikova in straight sets, 6-2 6-2. The 20-year-old won 31/40 behind her first serve while saving all four break points she faced in this 63-minute match.
The Slovak, who broke into the top 150 a year ago, was finally able to debut into top 100 after winning her biggest ITF title on her home soil at $100k Trvana this May. She made her first WTA semifinal this year at Budapest, defeating Cirstea, Lisicki, and Martic en route.
In fact, Kuzmova lost that semifinal to none other than Van Uytvanck in straight sets (6-4 6-2) in 68 minutes. Though the conditions at ‘s-Hertogenbosch (outdoor, grass) are entirely different to that of Budapest (indoor, hard), the Belgian is once again expected to advance further.
