The Roland Garros tournament was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Expected to start on May 24, the French Grand Slam will take place from September 20 to October 4, as announced by the French Tennis Federation.
This has displeased the world more.
Simona Halep’s trainer, former winner at Roland Garros, Darren Cahill, reacted after the tournament was moved and believes “it has to be found once it makes sense.”
“Nobody wants the Roland Garros tournament canceled, just for everyone to work together to find a date that makes sense when things get a little clear.”
“Players, tournaments, grand slams, men and women, all in one room. Now it’s a little early for answers, “Darren Cahill wrote on his Twitter account.
Americans have no time to move the US Open
Another very important Grand Slam tournament is the US Open, and the fact that the French have moved the date of Roland Garros’s dispute makes it only a week between the two big tournaments.
Americans have announced that they do not intend to change US Open data.
“In a time when the world unites, we recognize that such a decision should not be taken unilaterally. Therefore, the USTA would do this in full consultation with other grand slam tournaments, WTA, ATP, ITF and all our partners, including the Laver Cup, ” the American Tennis Federation said.
“This is an appropriate statement and position regarding a future tour, as opposed to our friends at Roland Garros. Let’s take a break, take enough time and try to protect the four grand slams as a priority, but let’s do it together as a whole. ATP, WTA, ITF and grand slams together, ”says Cahill.
