Jeremy Chardy vs Guillermo Garcia Lopez Tennis Prediction
The new London resident, Jeremy Chardy, won his first title in his new home when he won the Surbiton Challenger (grass) last week. Entering as the top seed, the Frenchman defeated the likes of Dan Evans, Liam Broady and Alex De Minaur to lift the maiden grass title of his career.
Jeremy Chardy has never won more than five matches on grass in a single season but has already gone 5/0 this year. In his previous four appearances in this tournament, he faced the first round exit twice (2010 and 2011) and made the quarterfinal on two other occasions (2013 and 2009).
While Jeremy Chardy has already won a title on grass, Guillermo Garcia Lopez will be playing his first match on this surface since losing to Andreas Seppi in the first round of Wimbledon 2016.
The Spaniard’s, who doesn’t look too comfortable on grass, posted his career-best result in a grass tournament here at Hertogenbosch in 2013, when he made the semifinals. Moreover, he has never lost a first-round match in this tournament (four appearances).
Jeremy Chardy leads the H2H 2-1, and notably, all their previous three matches have finished in straight sets. Ability wise, there isn’t much between them but being in the better of form on grass gives Jeremy Chady the slight edge in this first round encounter.
