Adrian Mannarino vs Gael Monfils Tennis Prediction
Top seed Adrian Mannarino defeated the 2018 Estoril champion Joao Sousa in straight sets to reach the semifinal of ATP Antalya for the second consecutive season, 7-6 6-4. Earlier this week, he began his second Antalya campaign with a straight-set win over Ricardas Berankis in the round of 16 (R1 bye).
Making his ATP Antalya debut as an unseeded player in 2017, Adrian Mannarino defeated the likes of Borna Coric, Fernando Verdasco, and Andreas Seppi before losing to Yuichi Sugita in the title-decider. However, looking at the other three players remaining in the draw and their current condition, the Frenchman will fancy his chances of going all the way this time around.
Adrian Mannarino recently snapped his six-match losing run by reaching the quarterfinal of ATP London last week, where he lost to Novak Djokovic in straight sets, despite making a solid start to the match, 5-7 1-6.
Though the former world #22 made one semifinal appearance at ATP New York in February 2018, he could not win more than two matches in any tournaments this season, and the match against Gael Monfils on Friday will be his third match of the week.
Fourth seed Gael Monfils is through to the semifinal of ATP Antalya after scrapping his way past Blaz Kavcic (R16, 6-3 5-7 7-5) and Guillermo Garcia Lopez (QF, 7-6 6-4).
Gael Monfils made his debut at ATP Eastbourne this time last year and managed to finish as the runner-up to Novak Djokovic, after defeating compatriot Richard Gasquet in the semifinal (faces a French opponent on Friday).
Former world #6 Gael Monfils made two semifinal appearances earlier this season, won the first one against Dominic Thiem at Doha (walkover) in January but lost to the same opponent at Buenos Aires in the following month.
This is a much-needed run for the talented Frenchman who injured his back at the Indian Wells earlier this season and delivered poor performances and results during the European clay swing (5/3).
Their previous two meetings have come on the grass with each winning on one occasion (Wimbledon 2017 and Wimbledon 2015). Though Monfils is the talented player of these two, Adrian Mannarino has been playing better tennis this week and expect him to reach the final of ATP Antalya for the second consecutive season.
