Philipp Kohlschreiber vs Jack Sock Tennis Prediction
Jack Sock won their only previous meeting in the first round of Paris Masters 2016. While Kohlschreiber will be looking to continue his good run of form, Jack Sock will be desperate to get beyond the second round of a tournament for the first time this season, which makes this an interesting contest.
Philipp Kohlschreiber News
Philipp Kohlschreiber continued his excellent form by passing a tricky first-round test against the talented Russian Karen Khachanov on Monday. It was a typical Kohlschreiber performance as he recovered from a *2-5 deficit in the first set and led by a break in the second set before letting the opponent get back into the match, 7-5 6-7 7-6.
The German will be hoping to avoid a third consecutive second-round exit from Rome when he takes on Jack Sock this Tuesday. He lost his recent two second-round matches here to Rafael Nadal in 2016 and Kevin Anderon in 2015.
On the positive side, Philip Kohlschreiber has won at least two matches in his recent three tournaments, at Monte Carlo (R16), Munich (F) and Madrid (R16). This is a massive improvement considering he won just two of his opening five matches of the season.
Jack Sock News
Jack Sock, who was bageled by Pablo Cuevas in the deciding set of their first-round encounter in Madrid last week, defeated David Ferrer to register only his fifth win of the season (on tour).
The challenge for the American now is to win back-to-back matches, something he has failed to do so far in 2018, despite entering ten tournaments and playing 16 matches.
Former world #8 Jack Sock has managed to progressively improve his record here at Rome over the past four seasons. He failed in the qualifying stages on his debut in 2014, first round in 2015, second round in 2016 and posted his best result by reaching the round of 16 in 2017 (lost to Rafael Nadal).
