Verdasco and Kokkinakis News
Spanish Fernando Verdasco had a verbal counter with Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis on Monday during the third round of ATP Masters 1,000 in Miami, as well as a Twitter duel with another Australian Nick Kyrgios.
It all started in the match against Verdasco and Kokkinakis, good friend with Kyrgios.
When Kokkinakis, the great surprise of the second round (victory in front of world leader Roger Federer), led 3-1 in the third set, Verdasco began to complain about the attitude of a spectator from the entourage of his opponent.
He accused the spectator in question, no one other than Kokkinakis’ father, that he speaks loudly between exchanges, and this has annoyed him and brought him out of the rhythm of the Australian. Kokkinakis lost his job (3-2) and then had a discussion with the chairman and Verdasco.
Meanwhile, Kyrgios, who was preparing for his match with Italian Fabio Fognini (6-3, 6-3), said his support for Kokkinakis.
“I hope TK will win this match, Verdasco is the most dirty player, he is frustrated by failures against Australians,” wrote Kyrgios on Twitter, alluding to the six consecutive Iberian failures faced by Australian players before the game with Kokkinakis. Kyrgios quickly wiped out the post, but Verdasco, who qualified in eighth, after 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7/4), missed the opportunity to give Kyrgios the replica.
“When you have the courage to send an insulting tweet to another player, you also have the courage to not delete it,” the Spaniard wrote.
Kyrgios immediately responded to the social network: “I would have told Fernando the same thing if he was in front of me, I deleted the previous tweet because I did not want to attract attention, but I’m here. blocked (no on Twitter), I’m sure you needed a lot of courage. ”
Kyrgios and Verdasco are on the same side of the painting in Miami and can meet in the semifinals, provided they win the next two matches.
